Learn about the eviction of a complete community living on Malaga Island in Casco Bayin 1912. Learn the prehistory of the island's use by our indigenous people and post history of the island after theeviction. Learn a bit about the mainland African American village in coastal Maine that no longer exists but predated theMalaga Island Colony. Visit the island remotely through a slide show created by Master Maine Guide, Alice. This courseis offered by Zoom.

Come try your hand at one of the fastest growing sports in the country!
Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. This weekly clinic will be held in the high school gym, and will consist of general instruction and open play.

WINTER OUTDOOR SURVIVAL SKILLS: During this one day outside workshop, you’ll be wearing snowshoes whileimproving your skills with: compasses (taking and following bearings), fire building, cooking using various techniques,shelter building, and how to search for a separated group member and handling some possible first aid issues. Designedfor those with some knowledge who will be leading family members or small groups in the colder weather outdoors, orpreparing to become a Registered Maine Guide.

In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. Learn to play piano the way professionals do-using chords. Since this class is being held online with Zoom, you will be able to sit at your piano or keyboard at home and take this course with no pressure at all. And since this course includes an online book and online follow up video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own.
An optional periodic online question and answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well.
The course is partly lecture/demonstration and partly hands on instruction.
Topics include:
- How chords work in a song
- How to get more out of sheet music by reading less of it
- How to form the three main types of chords
- How to handle different keys and time signatures
- How to avoid “counting”
- How to simplify over 12,000 complex chords

This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away.
Since this class is being held online with Zoom, you will be able to sit at home with your guitar and take this class without any pressure at all. And since the class includes an online book and online follow-up video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own.

Coastal Navigation Level 1

COASTAL NAVIGATION LEVEL 1
Learn the basics of coastal navigation using local charts, parallel ruler, and dividers. Learn what the symbols mean, how to determine safe and dangerous routes, create courses, learn rules of the “road”, what aids to navigation look like and do, plan for emergencies and more. For kayakers, sailors, powerboaters, and future Registered Maine Guides.
Students will need access to either a Casco Bay Chart or Penobscot Bay Chart, parallel ruler and dividers.
Class meets Live Online by Zoom over two sessions
